iPhone X is the new smartphone from Apple and was released 3 November 2017. This release marks the iPhone’s 10th anniversary.
The Design
The iPhone X has a futuristic design and comes with new features to unlock the phone and a large OLED screen. This phone however is not cheap so much thought should go into the decision making process. The iPhone X is mainly screen, 5.8 inches. Apple says that their Super Retina display has more realistic colours than other smartphones and reviewers have agreed. The OLED panel is brighter with wider viewing angles and supports HDR content. The iPhone does not have a home button which some reviewers say takes some getting used to but one swipe will return to the home screen. To see all of the apps the user will just need to swipe and hold. The phone has a stainless steel band and rounded corners, making it a real pleasure to hold when playing the games of online Blackjack Canada has to offer.
Facial Recognition
The feature that everyone is talking about is the new FaceID feature which uses a TrueDepth camera. To unlock the phone all, the user will need to do is look at the phone and then swipe up. This FaceID will also authenticate mobile payments. Some users have said that the Touch ID works better, but FaceID is great especially when fingers are sweaty or dirty. The face recognition works equally well during the day and night.
The Camera
The iPhone X has portrait mode which enables users to take a photo using dual cameras and this produces a depth-of-field effect. A photo can be composed with various lighting effects (these effects can also be added after the photo was taken) and users can take a selfie using the TrueDepth camera in portrait mode. The subject of the photo stays sharp and users can blur the background. The rear cameras have optical image stabilisation and fast lenses which allow for great photos even if the lighting is not good. The iPhone X has an optical zoom thanks to the wide-angle and telephoto cameras. The camera will analyse over 50 muscle movements and then mirror them on a person’s expressions using 12 Animoji’s. This is a really fun aspect of the iPhone X.
Improved Speed and More Apps
iPhone X is great for augmented reality (AR) experiences as it is much faster because of the A11 bionic chip which allows for faster performance. It does this by using high efficiency cores. iPhone X players who enjoy playing games such as Warhammer 40 000: Freeblade can place robots right in front of them. The phone comes with a collection of built-in apps for everyday use such as Photos, Maps, Health and Messages. Besides these the App Store has a huge range of apps which can be purchased.
The Charging
The iPhone X has the capability of fast wired charging, but users will need to purchase a separate Apple USB-C Power Adapter which costs around $50 and then another $25 for a lightning cable. Otherwise the iPhone uses wireless charging, so no cable is necessary. The new AirPower mat will be available in 2018 which allows for wireless charging of any Apple device.
The iPhone X comes with all of the Apple features that loyal fans would expect and also includes some new features and upgrades which make this phone more intuitive and more personalised.
