APOPO showcased the TB project to the scientific community at Tanzania’s regional conference of the International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) hosted jointly by UNESCO and International Union of Geological Science (IUGS) in Ngurdoto, Arusha May 9-10, 2008. Harold Mangesho and Stephen Mwimwanzi, along with 2 HeroRATS, represented the APOPO TB project well and were delighted at the opportunity to show the guest of honor, President Jakaya Kikwete how sniffer rats detect positive TB samples. President Kikwete, was very proud of the rats and enjoyed showing off his rats to former President Benjamin Mkapa. The conference was a great opportunity to highlight our HeroRATS, APOPO’s TB research and practical application in Arusha and the global community.
